Sixers bring back Royal Ivey
August 10th, 2009 | by Kevin Hanson |Earlier in the off-season, Royal Ivey decided to opt out of his contract. Now, he’s officially back with the Sixers, per Phil Jasner of the Philadelphia Daily News.
“We’re very, very happy to be back in Philadelphia,” said Keith Glass, Ivey’s agent. ”When we opted out, it wasn’t a reflection on the Sixers, it was a belief than Royal was worth more than the minimum, and that’s been born out.”
Last year, Ivey earned $854,957, according to ESPN.
Ivey averaged only three points in 12 minutes per game last year. In four seasons in the league, he’s played for the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks, and the Sixers.
The Sixers have only four guards on their roster — Ivey, first-rounder Jrue Holliday, Willie Green and Lou Williams.
