New Jersey Nets rookie small forward Terrence Williams, who was selected 11th overall in this year’s draft, models his game after Andre Iguodala.  Per Dave D’Alessandro of the Newark Star-Ledger, Williams said: “In college they compared me a lot to him, so I tried to study him.  As far as getting triple-doubles, passing the ball, rebounding, playing defense, bringing the ball up when he was at Arizona, I tried to do the same thing.”

Second-year player Marreese Speights is looking for his shot and likes playing center in Eddie Jordan’s offense since the ball often works through the center.  Speights said, “Whenever I get the ball, I look to score first, then pass.”  In 22 mpg through three pre-season games, Speights is averaging 8.3 rebounds per game, which is 11th in the league.  Let’s hope that Speights gets lots of minutes at center, which in turn would mean fewer minutes for Samuel Dalembert.

The reason why Jason Kapono is wearing # 72?  Since the Sixers retired #24 (Bobby Jones), he figured he’d multiply the number by three since he’s a three-point specialist.

The prediction for the Sixers from Ball Don’t Lie’s Kelly Dwyer?  43-39.

Earlier in the week, the folks at Liberty Ballers predicted a record of 48-34 and a fifth seed for the Sixers.  The reason for the optimism?  The Sixers’ supreme athleticism, which also translates into strong efforts on the defensive end.  As they point as well, the Sixers lost eight games on buzzer beaters.  If half of those last-second shots didn’t fall, the Sixers would have been 45-37 (instead of 41-41).

Eventually luck this bad has to reverse itself, doesn’t it?
