Still no deal for Dalembert to Sacramento

November 18th, 2009 | by Kevin Hanson |

There are rumors about sending Sammy Dalembert to Sacramento in exchange for Kenny Thomas (and Brian Scalabrine and Tony Allen from Boston), but the deal isn’t close to happening, according to Phil Jasner of the Philadelphia Daily News.

Boston would have sent J.R. Giddens to Sacramento as well and the Celtics would have received Andres Nocioni from the Kings.

There have been a lot of talks, a lot of different scenarios,” [Dalembert's agent Marc] Cornstein told the Daily News. ”I don’t think anything is imminent or happening. They’re making calls, and are aware that I’m doing the same.”

Dalembert, who has two (very overpaid) years remaining on his contract, wants out of Philly, the team is actively seeking a suitor and most fans (including me) would love to see Sammy in a different uniform.

With a trade kicker that equates to roughly $3.5 million, the overpaid Dalembert becomes even harder to trade.  But if the deal does happen, Kate Fagan of the Philadelphia Inquirer estimates that the Kings would save $4.5 million over three seasons.

If the Sixers don’t move him during the season, Dalembert and his expiring contract would become more desirable to other teams if/when the Sixers attempt to move him next off-season.
